Overview

What is Ignite Robotics?

Ignite Robotics is a robotics organization based in Bellevue where students design, build, and test robots using professional tools with peer mentorship. They compete in the VEX Robotics Competition across three programs: Exothermic, Quantum, and Blaze Qubits.

The Problem

Disconnected spreadsheets and systems

The administrative team relies heavily on multiple spreadsheets and platforms to organize programs, manage teams, and track tasks. Nothing talks to anything else.

Disconnected spreadsheets

Framing the Challenge

How might we make this more efficient?

Therefore I asked: how might we streamline administrative processes and make viewing student information more efficient, without adding more tools to the pile?

Ideation

From scattered updates to real-time awareness

When progress is fragmented across tools, visibility breaks down. I designed this dashboard as a single source of truth so administrators can quickly understand program performance and decide what to address next.

Prioritization & Prototyping

Review updates, then unlock insights

The dashboard surfaces pending actions, overall progress, and recent activity so administrators can prioritize follow-ups. A combined view of key signals across programs helps them spot gaps and make informed decisions.

Workflows

Finding students and teams that need attention

Instead of scrolling through rows of data, administrators can search and filter students and teams by what actually matters, program, status, and readiness, then dig deeper into any one of them from a single view.

Impact & Outcomes

What would make this successful

The targets: a 50% reduction in time to create and assign teams, 100% visibility into task status, and 80%+ of users reporting improved workflow satisfaction.

What’s next

Next up is usability testing, task-based sessions and post-test interviews with real administrators, to validate the design and refine it before handoff.
